CCE Code of Ethics

The integrity of the California Council for Excellence (CCE) relies on the adherence to ethical standards. It is pledged that each member of CCE and any affiliated entities or programs (Board of Directors, CTEA, CTC, CAPE, etc.), shall strive to enhance and advance the mission of CCE.

Declaration of Principles: Members of CCE pledge to promote high standards of public service and ethical conduct. In doing so, members:

  • Shall conduct themselves professionally, with truth, accuracy, fairness, respect, and responsibility to the public

  • Shall abide by all Federal and State laws pertaining to CCE operations

  • Shall not represent conflicting or competing interests, nor place themselves in such a position where their interest may be in conflict, or appear to be in conflict, with the mission of CCE

  • Shall safeguard the confidences of all parties involved in CCE as applicable

  • Shall not intentionally communicate false or misleading information which may compromise the integrity of CCE

CCE Programs’ Process Integrity

Multiple safeguards ensure the integrity of of CCE Programs’ processes:

  • In assigning Examiners and Judges to applicants, the CAPE Program is careful to avoid real and perceived conflicts of interest.

  • All Judges and Examiners are volunteers. Each Examiner and Judge signs a pledge to avoid both real and perceived conflicts of interest.

  • CAPE volunteers are encouraged to report any perceived ethical concerns to the CCE Ethics Chair, who will investigate and resolve issues.

  • The CCE Board, the policy advisory group for the CAPE Program, meets quarterly and reviews the programs' performance, including any potential ethical concerns.

  • CAPE Examiners review applications and only CAPE Judges recommend Award recipients to CCE’s Board of Directors. All information about Award applicants is held in strictest confidence. Only the names of recipients are released to the public, after the applicant has been notified and the evaluation cycle has been completed.
